My son, fear thou the Lord, and the King: and meddle not with them that are given to change, Proverbs chap. 24. verse 21 : Forasmuch as there are many persons who seem very fond of having the town of Boston incorporated ... its [sic] thought it might be of some use to the town, at this time, to lay before them some of the great privileges they now enjoy, and which if once given up for a charter, could not be purchased again for the wealth of the whole town.
